Hi guys,
It’s Monday.
And he walked into the office this morning looking all tall, classy, and ridiculously fine.
The moment he stepped in, his presence seemed to swallow the entire room. Suddenly, everyone else faded into the background. Dramatic? Maybe. But that’s exactly how it felt.
The day started normally enough. After a brief meeting, I was assigned to handle personal tax with my team. Everything was going smoothly until one particular guy decided that stressing me out was his life’s mission.
After enduring his endless disturbance, I finally said, “I’m going to report you to him.”
Yes, him.
The office crush.
I casually mentioned his name, expecting nothing much.
But this man appeared almost immediately and stood his ground for me.
“What’s the problem?” he asked.
Then, before I could even explain, he turned to the guy and said, “Why are you stressing Miracle? What did she do?”
Notice something?
He didn’t ask what I did.
He simply assumed I was innocent.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you: my defender.
I stood there trying not to smile too hard.
Then, as if the universe wasn’t already doing the most, he looked directly into my eyes and said:
“You look very pretty today.”
And honestly?
I could do nothing but smile.
What was I supposed to do? Start calculating tax percentages?
Anyway, before anyone starts planning our wedding, he still hasn’t asked for my number.
So we’re all calm.
For now.
Then came Tuesday.
I barely saw him all day.
Not because he wasn’t around, but because I was genuinely busy. Different tasks, different groups, different responsibilities.
And maybe—just maybe—I was trying not to make it obvious that I notice him every time he enters a room.
I also made a conscious decision not to report anybody to him.
You know, for character development.
I didn’t want him feeling too important.
Besides, a girl has to maintain some mystery.
The more I think about it, though, the more I wonder if I’m reading too much into all of this.
He still hasn’t asked for my number.
And if I’m being realistic, I think he probably has a girlfriend.
He’s definitely not married, but I have a strong feeling there’s someone somewhere receiving those compliments regularly.
Maybe he’s just a genuinely nice colleague.
Maybe he’s simply kind.
Maybe I’m overthinking every smile, every compliment, and every interaction.
Or maybe this is exactly how every romantic comedy starts.
Who knows?
For now, I’ll keep showing up to work and pretending my heart doesn’t do a tiny somersault whenever he appears.
Let’s see what tomorrow holds.
See you on Wednesday.
XOXO.
