If Humans Had Favorite Seasons, Mine Would Be Sunshine

What is your favorite season of year? Why?

People often ask about favorite colors, favorite foods, or favorite movies.

But if you asked me about my favorite season of the year, my answer would come without hesitation:

The dry season.

Give me sunshine.
Give me clear skies.
Give me warmth.

You can keep the rest.

Now, before the rainy season lovers come for me, let me explain myself.

For most people, rainy days are romantic. They imagine sitting by the window with a cup of tea, listening to raindrops hit the roof while soft music plays in the background.

For me?

Rainy season comes with anxiety.

The weather changes, the atmosphere shifts, and suddenly my body decides it wants to become the main character of a disaster movie. What is a beautiful rainy day for someone else can quickly become a health challenge for me.

Then there’s Harmattan.

Ah, Harmattan.

The season that arrives looking innocent but feels like it has a personal vendetta against my comfort.

The cold air, the dryness, the dust everywhere. My lips start negotiating for survival, my skin begins filing complaints, and my body generally refuses to cooperate.

No, thank you.

This is why the dry season and I have a beautiful relationship.

The sun doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not. It shows up every morning, does its job, and allows me to function without unnecessary drama.

I love stepping outside and seeing bright skies.

I love clothes drying quickly.

I love not having to worry about sudden rain interrupting my plans.

I love the energy that sunshine brings.

There’s something about a bright day that makes life feel lighter. Even difficult tasks seem a little easier when the sun is out.

Maybe that’s why I’ve always felt connected to sunny weather.

It reminds me that warmth exists.

That brighter days exist.

That sometimes the best thing in the world is simply waking up, opening your curtains, and seeing sunlight flooding the room.

So while others count down the days until the rain arrives, I’ll be over here appreciating every ray of sunshine.

Because for me, the dry season isn’t just my favorite season.

It’s my season of peace.

And if the weather could stay sunny all year round, I certainly wouldn’t complain.
